Felixstowe boss Stuart Boardley rated his side's first half performance as the best they have played all season, even though they did not score against Redbridge at the AGL Arena for nearly an hour.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Charlie Warren bagged a brace, followed by finishes from Callum Harrison and Sam Ford, with Felixstowe keeping a rare clean sheet.

Boardley was understandably delighted and told the club website: "Incidentally, even though we did not get a goal, that first half was probably the best we have played all season," said Boardley. "We got the ball down and played well but could not find that finish.

"We told them at half-time to be more clinical and show a bit more desire to get into the final third that first goal. Charlie grabbed an ugly goal and that made it a slightly less nerve wracking night."

Essex side Redbridge had gone nine games unbeaten and had lost since the end of August and Boatdley was delighted to beat them so comprehensively and move up to second place in the Isthmian League North table.

He said: "We got to grips early on really pleased with our performance have not got out of third gear we are starting to get there.

"The lads at the back very happy. We have conceded poor goals this season so to limit them as we did was really pleasing. Redbridge are a good opposition and came here with attacking intent."

Boardley gave credit to young defensive midfielder Bayan Aman, who was red carded on Saturday before the match against Wroxham was abandoned due to a serious injury to midfielder Haydn Davis.

Aman will start a there match ban on Saturday at Grays, but Boardley was impressed with his performance last night.

"Bayan has great character. He is a nice and humble lad, but equally he had that grit.," said Boardley.

"It was an unfortunate incident, it could have happened to anyone. We have spoken to him but he was champing at the bit and played really well."
