As a former Ipswich Town academy player himself Stuart Boardley knows the importance of going out and learning the trade in the men's game as soon as possible.

If that player can help a club get into their division's play offs then all the better.

So it is with 18-year-old Jesse Nwabueze, who has joined Felixstowe and Walton United on loan from Ipswich Town and made his debut in their come from behind 2-1 win at home against Hullbridge Sport on Saturday.

The winger, who went to West Ham on trial with his brother JJ before joining the Blues on a scholarship, looked lively with a quick turn of pace and a bit of physicality. after going on as a second half substitute and help urn the game.

"Jesse came on and affected the game in a positive way," said Boardley. "He is direct and he is quick. There is lots to work on positionally and defensively but we know if we can get he ball to him in the right areas of the pitch he will cause defenders problems. That is why we got in on loan to have an impact at the top end of the pitch."

Boardley was an up and coming start at Portman Road when George Burley was manager, and Bryan Klug ran the academy. A car accident set Boardley back but he went on to carve out a professional career at Torquay United and used his contacts to secure Nwabueze.

The youngster, who has had brief spells at Bury Town and Stowmarket Town in already this campaign, was part of Paul Cook's squad in pre-season and has played at under 18 level and for the under 23s.

Klug and academy coach Erdem Artun facilitated the move and Felixstowe boss Boardley was grateful for heir hep.

He said: "I felt we needed something extra in that part of the pitch and we were able to get the deal done quickly. I have a good relation with Ipswich and Bryan but Erdem in particular is the one to thank at their end for making this happen.

"It is good that we are able to provide a platform for their lads to play men's football, which benefits all parties."
