It was a bittersweet afternoon for Felixstowe boss Stuart Boardley as his side won their fourth game in succession but match-winner Joshua Hitter was taken to hospital after a serious ankle injury.

Boardley was delighted as The Seasiders moved up to 12th after their hard fought 1-0 win over Hashtag United, but spoke of his sorrow at losing scorer Hitter who headed home the 57th minute winner after more good work out wide by the Seasiders.

But the 24-yer-old signing from Leiston was later stretchered off and taken to hospital with what turned out to be ankle ligament damage and is expected to be out for six weeks.

"It was a bad injury," said Boardley. "He rolled it and heard a crack. We wish him all the best. Josh has won us the game, goals win games and he has come up with the winner which was the least he deserved.

"He was fantastic in the game, arguably our best player.

"Josh has had a good run of games in his favourite position and he is a real pest to the opposition and is always popping up in the right place, as he showed today."

The game was held up for seven minutes and Hitter later sent a message of thanks to medical staff from both clubs that treated him on the pitch and helped him as he was stretchered off and taken to hospital.

Before the injury, Felixstowe had a goal ruled to for offside in the first half, while Love Island star Toby Aromolarin missed The Tags' best chance when his tame shot was saved by Callum Robinson.

"It was a great game of football," said Boardley. End to end stuff, and we have probably sent home most of the 600 fans happy not just with the result but the way both teams played. It was good advert for local football.

The win in front of 622 fans inside the Goldstar Ground at Dellwood Avenue, takes the Seasiders' unbeaten league run to six games, with five wins and draw, going back to November.

"It is fantastic," said Boardley, "We are just quietly going about what we do, which how we want to go about things.

"From one to 11, while we didn't play fantastic football at ties, they worked incredibly hard for each other and there are some very tired legs.

"It was always going to be especially hard when we went a goal up because eat this level the opposition throws everyone forward and they made it it a tough second half.

"We more than edged the first half played some good football and really we should have gone in at least a goal up.

"Our style of play is to use the width of the pitch and we did that. We are playing an exciting brand of tracking football and long may that continue."

Felixstowe now go to basildon on Tuesday night where a win could move them into the top 10 of the Isthmian North Division

"It is big game for us so we will need to be at the top of our game to go down to Basildon on a Tuesday night and get a result," said Boardley.
