Felixstowe & Walton United will resume playing in the Isthmian League North Division when the new season starts, the FA has confirmed.

While the fixtures are yet to be released the Seasiders are aiming to play in front of a live crowd at Dellwood Avenue by October 1, the date prime minister Boris Johnson has set for stadiums to fully reopen.

The club plan to play pre-season friendlies behind closed doors, but welcome a more certain return to playing.

Chris Daynes, Felixstowe & Walton joint chairman, told nub News: "We are obviously pleased to still be in the Isthmian League and the management have worked wonders to put a strong squad together that we feel could have a successful season as we look to consolidate at this level.

"It's been a difficult time the last few months, but we are pleased there is now light at the end of the tunnel for football to resume.

"We are currently working through the guidance in the hope spectators will be allowed to attend from September, but at the present time it's looking like pre-season will be behind closed doors."

Felixstowe were mid-table and enjoying average gates of 290 spectators, before the season was brought to a premature end in March.

Stuart Boardley and his players are back in training, although still following government guidelines and Covid-19 safety precautions.
