Did You Know?

On this day in 1860 Charles Darwin's theory of evolution was fiercely debated at the Oxford University Museum and dominated by arguments between Thomas Henry Huxley and Bishop Samuel Wilberforce. Darwin's sister Caroline Wedgwood became very ill during a visit to Felixstowe and he organised a special carriage to get her home.
