Three Felixstowe candidates standing for vacant Orwell and Villages seat are declared

The three candidates standing for election in East Suffolk Council's Orwell and Villages ward have been announced.

and Conservative Mick Richardson

are all candidates for the vacant ward, which includes Trimley St Martin & Trimley St Mary, Kirton, Bucklesham, Falkenham, Nacton, Levington, Newbourne, and Walderingfield

Votoers will be asked on August 12 to decide who replaces the conservative Melissa Purnell who resigned last month for personal reasons.

Ipswich Town stadium manager Richard Kerry, also a Conservative, remains in office as the second ward member after first getting elected in .2007

A thumbnail look at the three candidates:

Mike Ninnmey (Liberal Democrat)

The co-founder of the Felixstowe Heritage weekends, lives in Walton, is keen on preserving local heritage. The former district and town councillor battled to to save the Bartlet Convalescent Home and the Felixstowe General Hospital. lives in Walton.

Mick Richardson (Conservative)

A former police officer and Felixstowe town councillor for Marsh ward, Mr Richardson operates a business flying drones. He lives in Trimley St Mary.

David Rowe (Labour)

An Ipswich Borough Council officer in the environmental health department, Mr Rowe is also a union official for Unison and active in the Labour Party. He is on the leadership team of Ranelagh Rd Christian Fellowship and is chairman of a charity working with young people in Felixstowe.
