Police have been making enquiries in Felixstowe today after receiving a report that a woman had been assaulted.

Officers were called at just after 5.10am this morning, Thursday 9 December, to a report that an incident had occurred in the Co-op car park off St Andrew's Road, near to the junction with Hamilton Road.

Early suggestions that it was a murder enquiry have proved to be false.

Following initial police enquiries, detectives are now satisfied that a crime did not take place in the car park and the scene was lifted at around 2pm, following the completion of searches and forensic enquiries in the area.

Detectives are continuing to work with the woman to establish further details about the incident, but there is no perceived threat to the wider public.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Safeguarding Investigation Unit, quoting reference: 69526/21.
