Firefighters from Felixstowe and Ipswich quickly extinguished a bus fire on Walton Avenue today.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called at 11.24am after receiving reports of a bus on fire and we're able to leave the scene half an hour later.

Although there was a lot of smoke and flames, there are no reports of any injuries but it was still a blow the owners of the bus, Felixstowe Travel, who have had a difficult time was it is.

A spokesperson said on social media: "Doing our weekly maintenance on all coaches standing in our depot and our 29 seater decides to catch fire.

"Good job we do the checks before each trip and also when standing idle. This coach is one of the few that we have been able to use over the last few months with small jobs.

"(It is) a sad day for us at Felixstowe Travel but hopefully we will survive this difficult period.

"Thank you to Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service and the Port Police for their assistance. We will bounce back stronger and greater than before."
