A Felixstowe mum who found a Twix wrapper on a beach thought to be 50 year's old has pointed to it as a harsh reminder of how plastic does not deteriorate in our seas.

Adelle Hall, 31, spotted the chocolate bar wrapper, and although the wrapper had lost its colour, the 7p price clearly visible while meandering along the beach with her partner Simon Douglas, 36, last week

Nursery adviser posted her find on a beachcombers social media site and has since learnt the cost of a Twix in the 197os was 7p.

Adelle said: "Anyone remember a Twix Bar costing 7p? The ocean delivering another harsh reminder of the longevity of plastic wrappers even roughly (I guess at) 50 years in the sea."

She believes her find is a reminder of how long these plastics can survive in the sea and the need to do more to cut down on pollution.

"Whenever I think about plastic pollution in the oceans, I always think about bigger things," said Adelle. "I forget about the little things like sweet wrappers and they're in abundance.

"All those plastic wrappers dumped, there must be thousands and thousands of them out there for such a long time.

"I really think more needs to be done about all the plastics in the ocean. We need to do more to reduce pollution and recycle more."

Adelle regularly goes beach coming and looks to recycle, along with her partner and three-year-old twin boys Jared and Landon and they also litter pick.
