A Felixstowe man has denied a hammer and mask found by police at his home was used in an attack on a dockworker while he was in bed with his partner.

Ipswich Crown Court heard one of the men was wearing a ski mask and told the victim's partner to get on the floor, while the other intruder had pulled out a knife and a claw hammer, which he used to attack the victim.

Jamie Lepicq, of Hall Field, Felixstowe, has denied attacking a dockworker in Princes Road on January 9.

Lepicq's lawyer Simon Eckersley told the jury there was no forensic evidence to back the claim his client was one of two men that launched the attack at the victim's girlfriend's house and that the hammer and mask found were did not match those used in the attack.

The defence for Aaron Chelton, 33, of Elizabeth Way, Felixstowe, who has also denied attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, is to be heard.

Lepicq told police he had spent the night at home with his partner.

Prosecutor William Carter, said previously that Lepicq had been in a relationship with the woman who was in bed with the victim on the night of the attack.

The alleged victim and Lepicq had previously been friends and had regularly played pool and socialised at the Owl and Pussycat pub in Felixstowe before allegedly falling out over the woman.

The trial continues.
