This campaign follows a recent CAP report, highlighting that 45% of CAP's clients across the UK did not know where to seek help, with almost two thirds (62%) thinking they could resolve their debt problems themselves.

According to the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) millions of people are set to be worse off next year due to predicted inflation and higher taxes. The chancellor acknowledged in his latest budget that families all across the UK are under strain and charities and community groups continue to step into the gap to support people experiencing financial hardships.

Christians Against Poverty is a nationally recognised charity that works to help the most vulnerable out of poverty across the UK. The charity offers a free face-to-face debt management service, with advice and ongoing support . CAP tackles the causes of debt and poverty through a range of expert group services: Job Clubs, Life Skills, and the CAP Money Course, which provides financial education across the UK.

Lorraine Papaioannou, Region Lead for CAP in the East of England said, "Debt, rising prices and unemployment are still affecting many families across the East of England. However, CAP helps thousands of people out of debt every year, there is always hope. If you are struggling with debt or money worries and need help, contact CAP today".

The work of CAP can have a far-reaching, positive impact on people's lives. Douglas is a CAP client who described how he felt before coming to CAP: "I felt like a tonne of stone, like I was sinking, not rising." he said.

"Until John [CAP Centre Manager] helped me with my money worries, it made me feel lighter…it's such a relief. I would recommend to anyone facing the problems I used to have, to contact CAP."

UK-wide CAP has over 280 centres, and across East Anglia and the East of England, as well as Felixstowe, CAP has over twenty-five debt centres in places as widespread as Dereham, Saxmundham, Chelmsford and Ely.

Debt Centre Manager John who runs the Ely CAP centre said, "The biggest impact in the lives of clients is the injection of hope into a problem that seemed insurmountable. CAP offers solutions that were previously unknown or thought to be unworkable and supports people all the way through the process of becoming debt free."

When referring to his work with Douglas, John went on to say "It's not just about us helping with debt, it's the fact that we're able to walk with clients. We have become friends and it's a friendship I wouldn't have made without CAP… it works both ways."
