Florence Nightingale was born 200 years ago today, in Florence Italy. Regarded as the founder of modern nursing Nightingale rose to fame during the Crimean War where she was known as the 'Lady of the Lamp' as she did her rounds caring for wounded soldiers. Florence died in London in 1910 aged 90
