A former Brantham Athletic youth team player has signed for Ipswich Town, for a second time.

Harry Clarke, brother of Felixstowe and Walton United's George Clarke, rejoined the Blues seven years after being taken by the Gunners as a 14-year-old after initially starting his football career with the young Imps.

The 22-year attacking wing back has signed a three-and half year deal, with the option of further year, for an undisclosed fee understood to be £1m.

Ipswich-born Clarke is following in the footsteps of his grandfather Terry Clarke, who played for Ipswich in the first half of the 1950s. Terry also played for Stowmarket and Sudbury. Harry has chosen the number 34 shirt as a nod to Terry who was born in 1934.

Clarke, making his Arsenal debut

Clarke made his Arsenal debut against Hibernian in July 2020, and has had loan spells at at Oldham Athletic, Ross County, Hibernian and Stoke City, and represented England at Under 17 level..

Arsenal recalled Clarke from his loan deal with the Championship club last week after making 20 appearances for The Potters, either side of a stress fracture in one of of his shins, but had slipped down the pecking order under Alex Neil.

He said: "I am home. Let's get to work."
