Choice words from Boardley sparks Felixstowe's second half revival at Bury Town
Felixstowe boss Stuart Boardley revealed how a few 'choice' words at half time sparked his side into coming from behind to snatch a point at Isthmian North Division rivals Bury Town.
Josh Mayhew hit the opener for the Seasiders but former Felixstowe danger man Ollie Cancer netted for Bury, with goals from Camal Ramadan and Luke Brown either side of his effort to see the hosts go in at the break 3-1 up..
Boardley admitted he was disappointed at the way his team had performed in the first 45 minutes against the team sitting just one place below them and let rip in the dressing room.
He told the club website: "All three goals were poor from our perspective.
"There were a few choice words at half time because we just weren't at it all
"We challenged the players to give it a go and second half we got to grips with it and there were two good finishes from Henry
Josh Blunkell made couple of good saves to keep Felixstowe in it, and Zak Brown had a late chance to win it but dragged his effort wide.
It could have gone either way," admitted Boardley. "A draw was fair enough."
Felixstowe handed a debut to new signing Ben Fowkes and Boardley believes the strength in depth for his squad will see them through the remaining for league fixtures, and then probably play-offs.
After an intense two weeks, with a Suffolk Premier Cup semi-final win over Leiston, defeat at leaders Lowestoft and now this intense battle at Bury, Boardley and his staff now have to get the players ready to take on Ipswich Wanderers at the AGL Arena on Monday.
The game has been brought forward to a 12.30pm kick to avoid clashing with Ipswich Town's match against Southampton.
