Not even a yellow card for Stuart Boardley could diminish the joy of a 4-0 win over Hashtag United for the Seasiders boss.

The Seasiders' eighth win in succession at the AGL Stadium, in front of a 658 crowd, moved Boardley's side up to second in the Isthmian Premier North due to their superior goal difference.

Although Boardley admitted the scoreline was slightly deceiving given Hashtag, who had won five on the bounce before Saturday, had caused them problems for a period either side of the break.

"We had to work hard for that and perhaps 4-0 flattered us a little," said Boardley who was booked for sharing his opinion of a decision with the referee a bit too forcefully. "We were the better side and deserve the three points but they had good period early in the second half when hey hemmed us in and made it hard for us.

"I said to the lads afterwards 'that's where we won the game'.

"We weathered that storm and came on strong towards the end."

Josh Hitter grabbed fourth

Zak Brown opened the scoring with a superbly timed run and showed good skills to beat the keeper and tap in.

Hashtag almost grabbed a leveller in lengthy time added on due to a head injury delay, but Callum Robinson got down superbly to save.

Boardley said: "Robbo has been fantastic for us this season. He has kept us in games and continues to do so.

"It has been hard for him because he has had so little to do but when you really need your goalkeeper, he steps up."

Another suspected concussion in the second half contributed to a number of delays, which disrupted Felixstowe's usual high tempo intensity and Boardley admitted that was frustrating until George Clarke, Charlie Warren and Josh Hitter, ensured a comfortable conclusion.

"Nobody's fault, but It was stop start and that didn't help us, particular in the first half," said Boardley.

"It detracted from the good football we had all hoped to see but you saw in the second half when it was more free flowing and we played some decent stuff.

"That said, it was fantastic to get four goals it is something we have been working hard all the day back to pre-season, in the recruitment too, to ensure we improved out numbers from last year."

Felixstowe's strength in depth will help them on Tuesday when they go to rivals AFC Sudbury, and Boardley is keen to keep in touch with leaders Lowestoft, while keeping their challengers below them.

Boardley said: "It is a big game on Tuesday and we have the squad to deal with that.

"There are a lot good sides in contention, Sudbury Grays, Lowestoft Stowmarket and don't discount Hashtag who will cause a lot of teams problems."

Hashtag United included for Colchester United, Reading, Wolves and Sunderland defender Greg Halford in their backline and while he still looked quality, he saw four go past him.

Love Island contestant Toby Aromolaran was named among their subs but did not contribute.
