News in Felixstowe

In line with the phased approach to reopening Suffolk's recycling centres, people with vans, trailers and trade waste can now book an appointment to visit nine of the county's 11 recycling centres, including Felixstowe.

Bookings can be made now for time slots available tomorrow [Thursday July 2] and over the next seven days. All visitors will need to pre-book an appointment online before arriving, where they will be asked what type of vehicle they will use and whether they are bringing household or business waste. In order to prevent queueing on neighbouring roads, people without a booking will not be able to enter the site. Social distancing measures also operate on site.

St Elizabeth Hospice is calling on Felixstowe pet owners to share photos of their much-loved companions for the charity's first ever, fundraising pet pageant.

Launching today, pet owners from across the area are encouraged to enter photos of their dapper dogs, cute cats and more exotic furry and scaly friends into the virtual competition to help support St Elizabeth Hospice during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Care homes, schools and other high risk area have been identified as key in a new plan which sets out how the Felixstowe area, along with the rest of Suffolk, would prevent and respond to a localised outbreak of COVID-19 published today.

Leicester has been told it most remain in lockdown for a further two week, and Suffolk's Local Outbreak Control Plan will be triggered where there are suspected or confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks in any setting or community within the county.
