Felixstowe skatepark opening tomorrow

A warning has been issued as preparation work is underway as East Suffolk Council starts the process of re-opening play areas and skateparks in Felixstowe and beyond following further easing of lockdown restrictions.

Following the latest announcement from the Government, East Suffolk Council and East Suffolk Norse are busy preparing for play areas and skateparks to start re-opening from tomorrow, Saturday July 4.

School exclusions have doubled

An urgent investigation has been launched after new figures revealed the numbers of Suffolk school pupils permanently excluded doubled this year, including some from the Felixstowe area.

The revelation emerged in a meeting of the Suffolk Schools' Forum on June 18, with subsequent data revealing that for the first two terms of this academic year there had been 114 permanent exclusions, compared to 56 for the same period last year.

In line with the phased approach to reopening Suffolk's recycling centres, people with vans, trailers and trade waste can now book an appointment to visit nine of the county's 11 recycling centres, including Felixstowe.

Bookings can be made now for time slots available tomorrow [Thursday July 2] and over the next seven days. All visitors will need to pre-book an appointment online before arriving, where they will be asked what type of vehicle they will use and whether they are bringing household or business waste. In order to prevent queueing on neighbouring roads, people without a booking will not be able to enter the site. Social distancing measures also operate on site.
