A Felixstowe man has admitted wounding his wife and sister after celebrating New Year's Eve in the town.

Michael Dawson, 35, of Mill Lane, Felixstowe, denied wounding both women with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm, but Ipswich Crown Court heard that he has admitted a less serious charge of wounding them.

As a response to concerns from local businesses about the impact of Covid-19, East Suffolk Council has agreed to extend its free parking scheme to 13 additional car parks across the district, including two in Felixstowe.

The car parks in Crescent Road and Highfield Road, where it is currently 50p for the first 30 minutes, have been added to the others in the resort that offer an element of free parking.

A senior Felixstowe clergyman is set to be made an honorary Canon this weekend.

The Reverend Andrew Dotchin is among eight clergy from the Suffolk area to be recognised for their service to the church at a special service this Sunday at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds.

East Suffolk Council is now processing the payment of grants for Felixstowe businesses provided by the government in a response to new national Covid-19 restrictions.

The Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) is available to businesses that have been required to close in line with new national restrictions which came into force on 5 November. These include non-essential retail, leisure, personal care, sports facilities and hospitality businesses.
