Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has been recognised nationally for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In particular SFRS was praised for its positive contributions to the local community and commitment to the welfare of its staff, including crews and managers at Felixstowe.

Suffolk health leaders have said capacity is now in place to ramp up vaccinations across the county, but recognised there were still some issues on supply.
Dr Ed Garratt, chief executive of the Ipswich and East Suffolk, West Suffolk and North Essex clinical commissioning groups addressed the county's Health and Wellbeing Board this morning where he said the county has increased capacity with 19 primary care network sites delivering the jabs.

A number of walks and cycling trails on and around the Felixstowe peninsula have been included as part of the 2020 Discovering Suffolk project launched this week.
Among those highlighted are the Suffolk Wildlife Trust's Trimley Marshes Nature Reserve Circular Walk, Levington Lagoon Nature Reserve, the East Suffolk Lines - Deben & Coast Walks, Landguard Peninsular & Felixstowe Circular Walk, the Suffolk Coast Path (Felixstowe to Lowestoft), Stour and Orwell Walk (Felixstowe to Cattawade) and also included is the Felixstowe town's cycling map.
Over 2/3 of the Suffolk population are overweight or obese and last year Slimming World did some research which pinged into my inbox and got me thinking how we can start 2021 on a positive foot and avoid some of the struggles of the first lockdown.

HSBC is to close its Felixstowe branch in July as part of a nationwide restructure that will see another 82 shut down this year.
Staff at the branch at Hamilton Road in the town will be redeployed within 15 miles of their home when it closes on Friday, July 23, according to the bank
A funding programme which supports people struggling with social isolation and loneliness in the Felixstowe area is now accepting new applications.
East Suffolk Council's Hidden Needs Programme was originally launched in 2018 to support older people and families with limited resources who were struggling with social isolation and loneliness. In a response to Covid-19, the scheme was relaunched in June 2020 with a fund of £100,000 and adapted to help fund projects which supports people of all ages who are particularly vulnerable during this time.
