A Felixstowe councillor has been handed a key role as adaptations were unveiled for Suffolk County Council's cabinet following the election, with big changes to those overseeing key services in highways, education and health services among others.

Steve Wiles, who was re-elected for Felixstowe Coastal in the recent county council elections, will sit as a deputy cabinet member with a responsibility for highways drainage in the new look executive.

A lightning strike caused delays to trains opening between Felixstowe and Ipswich this morning.

Operator Greater Anglia's confirmed the signalling system was hit earlier today meaning the service was delayed at stations, including Trimley and Felixstowe was affected , but is running normally now.

Nub News has been successful in its application to join in the Kickstart Scheme to give two community journalist hopefuls an avenue into the industry.

Using the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce gateway, Nub News went through a process with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to be accepted onto the government scheme. We will employ two community reporters aged between 16-24 for Felixstowe Nub News, along with its sister sites in Hadleigh and the Shotley peninsula. We are also looking to expand into other towns, including Woodbridge, in the near future.
