Extra cameras, better training and a new method for the parking are among new changes in the way hauliers and crane drivers work together will take place at the Port Of Felixstowe.

The new measures come into effect after an investigation into an incident where a driver had a lucky escape when a container came down on top of his cab in April.

The Suffolk Law Centre (SLC), which offers free legal advice and support for residents unable to afford the costs of a lawyer, has issued a stark warning about the impending cut-off point for European Union nationals to legally remain in the UK, including some living in the Felixstowe area.

The European Union Settlement Scheme (EUSS) requires citizens of the bloc's 27- member countries to apply for permission to continue living and, where relevant, working in this country.

Emerging from lockdown, the Two Sisters Arts Centre in Trimley St Mary, near Felixstowe, recently re-opened its doors with a sell-out performance by Suffolk-based jazz combo The Chris Ingham Trio - a show that was also live-streamed, and Robert Carr was there in person for Nub News.

The trio, comprising Chris Ingham (described by the Evening Standard as "One of Britain's best singer-pianists"), Joe Pettitt (bass) and George Double (drums), treated the enthusiastic audience to numbers by three of Chris's favourite performers.

Two sailors from Felixstowe that made nearly 20,000 visors for NHS workers have been awarded British Empire Medals in the Queen's Birthday honours list, announced today.

Simon Scammell and Matt Read, who both live in the town and are owner and head sail maker respectively for Tidemill Way, Woodbridge based Suffolk Sails, were named as recipients of the BEM for their services to frontline health workers throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
