A Punch pub boss has defended its decision to try and demolish the White Horse in Felixstowe and replace it with a shop, flats and houses.

East Suffolk council planners have so far received more than 185 objections to Punch Pub's application to demolish the White Horse public house in Old Felixstowe and for the erection of a convenience store on the ground floor and four apartments on the first floor, and the erection of two bungalows with associated parking and landscaping.

Monday's Motivation

The first Victoria Cross, Britain's highest medal for bravery, was awarded to Charles Lucas, in 1854 who was awarded it during the Crimean War for conspicuous bravery. The medal was made from metal from a cannon captured at Sebastopol. The Victoria Cross was extended to colonial troops in 1867 and to date a total of 1,358 Victoria Crosses have been awarded. Paratrooper Lance corporal Joshua Leakey was the most recent recipient in 2015 for bravery in Afghanistan.

Solstice in Felixstowe

Agreement has been given for Suffolk County Council to pursue a Government plan to overhaul bus services, which aims to significantly improve public transport provision, for places such as Felixstowe and its neighbouring rural areas.

Suffolk County Council's cabinet on Tuesday afternoon agreed to pursue the 'enhanced partnership' model of delivering bus services – effectively a set-up where the council and bus providers will jointly deliver improved services.
