Better communication to Felixstowe homes, carbon reduction measures and more work opportunities for young adults are among ambitions for new £1billion highways maintenance contracts over the next 20 years in thee area.
Suffolk County Council's cabinet has been recommended to approve work on creating and securing three contracts from October 2023 – one for a main maintenance provider similar to what the council has now, with additional smaller contracts for street lighting maintenance and traffic signals.

The Spa Pavillion at Felixstowe will be lit up with a bright rainbow of colour when Coldplace hit the stage on July 17, from their postponed date of July last year.
Almost exactly a year after their original scheduled performance, the band will be lighting up the sky with their fabulously energetic show which they can now deliver to live audiences, and complete with props.

A new planning document has been adopted in East Suffolk to help conserve and enhance the district's historic environment, including a number of vital buildings in the Felixstowe area.
Landguard Fort and the Martello towers are just a part of the town's rich heritage, which the council is looking to protect and enhance.

Felixstowe Fire Station and Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service are inviting cyclists of all abilities to join them in taking part in their annual cycle sportive, the Suffolk Fire Ride.
Starting at Felixstowe Fire Station, this year's routes will be set amongst the lovely rural lanes and beautiful rolling countryside found in east Suffolk and will raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.
