Tony Blackburn began his career as DJ for the offshore pirate radio station Radio Caroline on this day 57 years ago at 4pm with the Four Seasons' Rag Doll. He also appeared on Radio London until joining the BBC in 1967. Corny Blackburn, and dog Arnold, officially launched Radio One at 7am on 30 September 1967, The Move's "Flowers in the Rain" was the first complete record he played.
