Suffolk Building Society opens new branch in Felixstowe
Suffolk Building Society has announced the opening of its new branch in Felixstowe, its eleventh location in the county.
Having previously had an agency in the town, the Society already has an established member base in the town.
The new branch will be located within the old Great Eastern Square railway station, at the former location of Station Café.
The space has been entirely refurbished to create a welcoming and accessible environment for members and the community and will be shared with East of England Co-op Travel.
This new 'shared space' format will provide both existing and new members of the Society with access to a cash service, opportunities to discuss their savings accounts, update their passbooks, seek financial guidance, and open new accounts with the Society. A meeting room will also be available to discuss private and confidential matters with members of staff.
The new branch will open in March 2025 and will launch with part-time opening hours, which may change over time according to demand. Initial opening times will be announced in the coming weeks.
Richard Norrington, CEO, Suffolk Building Society said: "As Felixstowe is our county's fifth largest town, it's fitting that we are returning with a new full-service branch. We know that many people in the town have long wanted us to re-open a face-to-face service, giving members access to the support and personal service they have come to associate with Suffolk Building Society.
"We're incredibly excited to welcome the people of Felixstowe and the surrounding villages to our new branch and to maintain our commitment to the local community."
With many banks closing regional and rural branches, Suffolk Building Society is proud to continue expanding its branch network to support the people of Suffolk. The Society now has eleven full-service locations across Suffolk, which is more than any of the Big Four banks (Barclays, HSBC, NatWest, Lloyds).
Stuart McDonald, Chief Property Officer at the East of England Co-op said: "At the East of England Co-op, we're passionate about working with local businesses and supporting our communities. We're pleased to welcome Suffolk Building Society to share our space in Great Eastern Square, Felixstowe with our newly relocated Travel branch, giving local residents in-person access to these important services."
Mr Norrington concluded: "The 'bricks and clicks' model really is at the heart of our Society. While our digital proposition is gaining momentum, we firmly believe that a face-to-face model is also required to meet the needs of all our members."
