Did you know?
The first ever episode of Fawlty Towers was broadcast on this day in 1975. The classic comedy set in a Torquay hotel with John Cleese as the hilariously rude and inept Basil Fawlty, with Prunella Scales as his wife Sybil. Voted the 'greatest ever British TV sitcom' in 2019 and the phrase 'Don't mention the war' is one of the most often used by people even today. The show came about after John and his real wife Connie Booth stayed at the Gleneagles Hotel, now demolished, and based the character Basil on the eccentric owner.Today's Felixstowe sunrise: 06:37
