The owners of The Sandwich Shop in Felixstowe are embracing Easter by donating eggs, free range and chocolate, to charitable causes.

Neville Stein, who owns the shop with his son Will Stein and business colleague Tom Couchman, said: "We made the call to close the sandwich shop during the lock down as we felt this was the best policy to protect our customers and staff.

"As a result of the temporary closure we had surplus eggs which needed a home and so we have donated them to the Bus Shelter Ipswich, a project that aims to reduce the amount of rough sleepers on the streets of Ipswich".

Gareth Brenland, who runs the Bus Shelter project, thanked the Sandwich Shop and said: "It is really kind of them, and the eggs are much appreciated by the ever-growing number of people needing food parcels."

Neville continued: "We also felt we wanted to help other organisations during these difficult times so we were bale to purchase a bulk supply of chocolate easter eggs from our wholesaler and we have donated these to the food bank run by FIND in Ipswich."

Like many catering business The Sandwich Shop is temporarily closed. While the closure remains the owners have been working hard to keep in touch with their customers and are looking forward to being able to serve the public in Felixstowe very soon.

Neville added: "These are very difficult times but we are getting a lot of support from our customers which we are very grateful for."

Neville is also encouraging people to like the sandwich shop Facebook page: "The more likes we have on our page, the easier it will be to get the message out to the public that we are up and running again," said Neville.
