Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club (FFSC) is delighted to be able to offer on the water activities to a wider scope of people.
Thanks to the generous support of the Felixstowe Town Council Mayor's Grant, the club was able to purchase buoyancy aids in a wider range of sizes - from Junior and Adult S to XXXL
Allowing all to get afloat at FFSC, there are 'Try Sailing' Open Days held each year and also as part of the RYA approved Sailing and Powerboat courses that are run through the Training Centre.
"Fit well…comfortable…"
Josh Fisk remarked - "The new buoyancy aids fit well and are comfortable and they will enable me and many others to get on the water safely."
Sam Rowell, Rear Commodore (Water) said "I look forward to being able to run our sailing and powerboat courses being able to loan out kit that we can be proud of."
With the sailing season fast approaching, now is the time to get involved, especially with new kit now available.
Join us for one of our 'Try Sailing' Open Days or book a course and jump on the water in one of our brand-new buoyancy aids! Learn the basics of boat handling, sailing theory, boat tuning, seamanship and racing.
'Sailing in Company' is a growing weekend fixture within the club - Sailors explore the river and coast, from Felixstowe Pier all the way to Wilford Bridge in Melton.
"I'm sailing again…after 35 years"
Jo Barnard says "The new buoyancy aids will enable the club to introduce more sailing. With the help and support of the clubs instructors I've personally started dinghy sailing again after 35ish years and appreciate the club having kit I can use."
"With hire boats available, monthly membership payments and a selection of wet-wear available, we are truly breaking down the cost barrier to entry of water sports."
Felixstowe Ferry Sailing Club provides great leisure and competitive sailing at all states of the tide from the River Deben in Suffolk on the east coast.
Our club has been the host of many National Championships for classes such as Fireflys, 505s, Dart 18s and is well known throughout the catamaran sailing community.
No matter what you sail, whether it's a windsurfer, kitesurfer, cruiser, mono-hull or multi-hull we will welcome you with open arms to a great sailing and social club. We have a thriving Youth Sailing section which caters for our younger members and a new 18-25 group for our more adventurous students.
After gaining experience through our sailing courses, as a club member you are able to hire club boats (Laser, Dart 16, Laser 2000) for club sessions and your own sailing adventures.
