White Horse owners Punch are pressing ahead with their plans to demolish the Old Felixstowe pub, it has been confirmed.

Hopes were raised among campaigners last week that a request to make the old pub an Asset of Community Value (ACV) was permitted by East Suffolk Council and that would allow the pub to be bought by a community group.

Their hopes were further raised after the pub was put on the market with Savills but it has since appeared to have withdrawn from sale, following the ACV.

However, Nub News understands the site is still for sale and will be marketed again via a different office of the estate agent, and promoted on an online platform.

An application has been made by Punch to demolish the building the develop a convenience store and flats on the set, including the current stables.

Nub News was told to check the planning portal as the White Horse no longer figured in pub owners' estate plans and a Punch spokeswoman confirmed: "There are no change in our plans."
