An annual grant scheme that sees £44,000 awarded to community projects across the Felixstowe peninsula is now open for applications.

Individuals as well as organisations such as schools, businesses and community groups are encouraged to apply for funding available across the Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in Essex and Suffolk .

Previous examples of projects funded include art workshops for people with mental illness, new fencing and gates for nature and wildlife reserves, rural training for young people, as well as visitor information at well-known landmarks in the area.

If you have a project that covers wildlife conservation, access and diversity, climate change, health and wellbeing, learning, or heritage, the Coast & Heaths AONB welcomes your application, particularly from community projects that represent the widest range of society possible and supports equality of opportunities to access the funds.

The Sustainable Development Fund aims to support projects that conserve and enhance the area and benefit communities socially, environmentally, and economically. Applications that show innovation, social inclusion, action for climate and sustainability, and partnership working for public benefit are all encouraged.

The closing date for applications is Friday 19th May 2023. For more information about the various grants that are available and the criteria and funding guidelines, please www.suffolkcoastandheaths.org or contact Oka Last, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Grants Officer, on 01394 445225 or [email protected]
