Buy a meal for a hungry person this Christmas and feel good about yourself.

A bar/restaurant in Felixstowe has been praised for offering a pay it forward scheme to help the hungry.

The Skye Lounge, on Undercliffe Road opposite Felixstowe Pier, launched the scheme, which runs over the Christmas period and into the new year. theme allows a person to pay in advance for a meal at the Ski Lounge, which can then be used by a hungry person, with no strings attached.

For example £10 would buy a hot roast lunch, while £5 would cover the cost of a child's nutritious roast meal.

The receipt is pinned to a noticeboard and can then be used by a person in need.

The initiative has been hailed by customers who paid it forward for a meal.

He said: "This is really tough time for a lot of people. The cost of living crisis caused by this government has bitten deep.

"Christmas is time wherein cuts deep, when it is cold and people, whether they are pensioners, or just people down on their luck, are really struggling.

"The Style Lounge deserves huge credit for offering this and I'm sure it will help even a few people.

"While I'm not particularly wealthy I can spare £10 to help someone directly, rather than contribute to a huge chart that spends a big percentage on admin fees or advertising

"The added bonus is it actually makes me feel good about myself that I have helped someone."
