Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Felixstowe.

A member of the public called police yesterday, Tuesday 6 June, after finding the victim at around 11.15am on the floor of a property in the Granville Road area of the town.

It is believed an unknown male entered the property before he sexually assaulted the woman.

The suspect is described as a white male, with a local accent and possibly aged in his twenties. He was believed to be wearing mainly black or dark-coloured clothing.

Police enquiries are ongoing, while the woman is being supported by specially trained officers.

Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.

Officers would like to speak to witnesses or anyone who may have seen anything suspicious between 9am and midday on 6 June in the area.

Residents with CCTV or doorbell cameras, or any motorists with dash camera footage from the area around the time of the incident, are asked to review the footage for anything that may be of use to the police investigation.
