The newest container ship to earn the accolade of the largest cargo carrying vessel in the world, is due into Felixstowe next month.

Ever Ace, one of the Evergreen Marine Corp's fleet has taken the title from the HMM Algeciras by a mere 28 extra containers, and has a capacity 23,992.

At 400 meters long, her deck is equivalent to four football pitches, was built

South Korea-based Samsung Heavy Industries for around £125 million (US$150 million) and was handed over to Evergreen Marine Corp. on July 29 .

She is currently in Taiwan on her maiden voyage and is due to arrive in Felixstowe on Friday, September 4 where she will berth for three days before moving on to Hamburg.

Ever Ace can carry up to 3,000 more 20-foot containers than Ever Given, the Evergreen-operated ship that blocked the Suez Canal earlier this year, and arrived into Felixstowe last week some four months late than originally expected.

Like the Ever Given, the mega carrier will also be operating on shipping routes between Asia and Northern Europe and will be back in Felixstowe again in November.

Full story, video and pictures as Ever Given finally arrives in Felixstowe.
