A choir of 43 female singers have come together in perfect harmony to create a moving tribute to all those affected by the Covid-19 virus, despite all the performers being isolated in their own homes.

Felixstowe Harmonies recorded Across All Borders singing their vocals individually, before it was then expertly brought together over a three week period.

Across All Borders was inspired by thoughts and feelings during isolation, with the singers and their musical director Chandra Grover, wrote the song as the focus of their online sessions.

The chorus has a strong and uplifting message of solidarity, of friends uniting and showing how singing lifts the hearts across the borders of the world.

Clare Baker, one of the singers and a committee member said: "As a Felixstowe Girl at heart, it is wonderful to be able to give something back to the community by raising money through our concerts and enjoying performing to audiences via social media, like this."

Sang in a four part harmony with a piano, the song's lyrics and tune is available as Sheet Music here.

Ordinarily Felixstowe Harmonies, sing 40's and 50's swing, jazz, folk and pop and songs from the light classical repertoire and generally sing in either three or four part harmony.

The group is celebrating its 11th anniversary as a successful fund raising choir holding up to three concerts a year in aid of Suffolk charities.

Last year Felixstowe Harmonies made more than £3,000, which they were able to share between, independent arts in mental health organisation Lockarts, Felixstowe Coast Patrol, St Andrews Church, Walton Parish Nursing, and St Marys Church Walton.

The ladies also perform at Art on the Prom and other events in Felixstowe, as well as at various venues in Suffolk.

"Under the leadership of Chandra Grover, we aim to inspire creativity, encourage people to enjoy singing as part of a group and make the best sound we can," added Clare. "We strive to give everyone an enjoyable evening of singing and ask the choir to suggest songs they like.

"If suitable arrangements can be found, we build our repertoire of everyone's favourites.
