Get ready for Operation Camouflage near Felixstowe

A popular activities programme returns to East Suffolk this summer.

Operation Camouflage begins at Sutton Heath, near Woodbridge on Tuesday 25 July.

Organised by the Army Welfare Service and East Suffolk Council, the four-week programme is open to children and young people aged between eight and 16 years old who live in or go to school in East Suffolk, including the Felixstowe area.

The cost per day is £22.50 or free to those eligible for free school meals.

Designed to bring young people together and help them develop new skills, Operation Camouflage runs every Tuesday to Thursday from 25 July until 17 August.

here will be a mix of physical, creative, educational and adventurous activities on offer including BMXing, football freestyling, archery, Lego building, dance, bushcraft and much more. Snacks and lunch will also be provided.

Cllr Katie Graham, East Suffolk's cabinet member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism said: "Holiday activity programmes such as Operation Camouflage are important for the physical and mental health of young people, offering a wide range of fun activities in a safe environment. Operation Camouflage is a great way for young people to meet new friends and try something different this summer."

Operation Camouflage has been funded by the Army Benevolent Fund, HM Treasury and East Suffolk's Holiday Activities and Food Programme.

Transport is available to young people eligible for free school meals and who attend schools in the catchment areas of Farlingaye and Kesgrave High Schools.

East Suffolk Council and the Army Welfare Service have been delivering Operation Camouflage since 2008. The programme is designed to give young people from military families and those living in East Suffolk an opportunity to be active over the summer holidays.
