FUNDING has been agreed to improve how visitors get around Felixstowe's seafront.
East Suffolk councillors agreed funding to make the seafront more accessible to visitors during a cabinet meeting last week.
The improvements include better signage along the seafront area as well as new pathways linking the promenade to Manor Terrace.
Discussion on the works was kept private, and the amount of capital funding put toward the works was not disclosed.
A council spokesperson said: "The projects aim to enhance the experience for residents, visitors, and businesses, strengthening Felixstowe seafront as a vibrant and attractive tourism destination."
The improvements are part of a wider £60,000 short-term council package for Felixstowe, approved by the authority in October.
The council spokesperson said the improvements would make the seafront 'an appealing place to visit all year round and at all times of day'.
The overall vision for the area includes longer-term plans, such as a pedestrianisation trial in Sea Road, with the aim of making it permanent either fully or partially in the future, as well as a resident parking scheme for the seafront.
However, these will be down to the new unitary authority to implement.
