Felixstowe radio presenter Mark Murphy was on hand as Suffolk financial services company, Scrutton Bland, have made a generous donation of £2,500 to the Friends of the Ferns charity.
BBC morning show presenter Muprhy is a supporter of The Ferns, which is the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) based in Suffolk providing free support to all those who have been affected by sexual abuse. The non-judgemental support and advice is offered regardless of the circumstances of the assault and is available to all.
The Friends of the Ferns is a charity set up to support the work of the SARC, providing key counselling and therapeutic services to both adults and children who have been affected by sexual abuse.
Louise Elmy, manager of the SARC said: "On behalf of the SARC, the ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) service, our crisis workers and most importantly our clients, I would like to thank Scrutton Bland for their very generous donation. It will directly help to provide the non-statutory elements of our support that assist clients in recovering.
"These are as varied as the clients themselves and include both therapeutic and practical assistance, individually tailored to needs. It will also assist The Ferns to raise awareness of our service and ensure that anybody affected by sexual abuse in Suffolk can engage with the SARC and ISVA service to receive our specialist support."
Luke Morris, Partner leading Community Social Responsibility at Scrutton Bland commented: "We're very pleased to be able to make this donation to The Ferns to help them continue to support members of the community: a very worthy cause voted for by our people through our rather unique 'Scrutton Bland Foundation'. Both as a business and as a group of people we are all really proud of the work that we do to support the local community. Our Foundation and associated volunteering days for our people are a big part of our core values, underpinning what we stand for as a business."
