The late Queen's favourite jewel in the crown was the Black Prince's ruby, which was worn by King Henry at the Battle of Agincourt. The large, irregular cabochon red spinel weighing 170 carats (34 g) is set in the cross pattee above the Cullinan II diamond at the front of the Imperial State Crown and goes back to the 14th century.
