Former Felixstowe dock worker admits guilt to child rape charge

A former Port of Felixstowe dock worker who admitted raping a child, has been warned he faces a long jail term when he is sentenced next month.
Martin Woods, 41, of Guthrum Road, Hadleigh, confessed to a string of sexual offences - including the rape of a child under the age of 13, during a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, April 9.
Woods faced eight charges and the court heard all the offences took place during 2020. He pleaded guilty to the rape a child under the age the age of 13, sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13, two counts of taking indecent images of a child, and three charges of making indecent images of children.
However, he pleaded not guilty to causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and his pleas were accepted by prosecutors.
Judge Emma Peters ordered a report from the Probation Service to assess dangerousness ahead of sentencing, which is due to take place Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, May 27 and expected to last around 90 minutes.
