Bloor Homes' Eastern region is celebrating the recognition of Felixstowe site manager John Crewdson and colleague Michael Spalding at this year's National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Quality Awards.

The awards are described by NHBC as 'being at the heart of its mission to raise standards in housebuilding'.

Each year they celebrate the UK's best site managers across the whole of the UK, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence to support the delivery of new homes to the highest quality.

They are also known across the industry as 'the competition all site managers want to win'.

Former chippy John Crewdson, site manager at Bloor Homes at Felixstowe and fellow Suffolk site manager and Michael Spalding, at Trinity Meadows in Stowupland will now be in the running to win the NHBC's national Supreme Award.

Terry Tedder, managing director for Bloor Homes' Eastern region said: "Both site managers have successfully progressed through the company.

"This is John's second Pride in the Job award in three years. He was originally a carpenter and joined the Eastern region as an Assistant Site Manager but was quickly identified as a potential candidate for promotion to Site Manager, having demonstrated time and again his competency in the role.

"John's delivery of quality is testament to his planning and effective control of a site, which sits alongside consistent positive customer feedback of the highest level."

Mr Tedder added: "Michael joined us as a forklift operative, then five years ago decided to further his career and become an Assistant Site Manager on our Stowupland development. Here, he quickly established himself as not only an extremely competent Assistant, but clearly demonstrated the ability to step up as Site Manager.

"Achieving consecutive Pride in the Job awards in his first two years in the role is testament to Michael's personal determination, coupled with the customer focus he has shown throughout his time with the Eastern Region.

Overall, 22 Bloor Homes site managers from 8 regions were amongst the 444 award winners selected by the NHBC from an initial pool of around 8,000.

In a joint statement, Divisional Chairmen, Andrew Marns and Richard Oldroyd at Bloor Homes said: "We are delighted that the NHBC have recognised the dedication and focus our site teams demonstrate in delivering Quality building standards. It is also testament to the hard work, across all of our regions, in producing quality new homes. Our thanks and congratulations go to all twenty-two winners for the excellent work they do in leading their teams and delivering quality for our customers."
