The Mariners in Trimley suffered its second fire in 24 hours, as Suffolk fire crews also dealt with a person stuck in the mud today.

Felixstowe firefighters were called to the blaze at just after 9.30am and stayed nearly four hours to deal with the incident at the pub.

Three crews from Felixstowe and Ipswich were called to The Mariners at just before 10am this morning and stayed until almost 13.30. It appears there was a problem with a fuse box, which also affected nearby residents.

It was the second time Suffolk Fire Service had been called to the popular pub in 24 hours, after a first floor fire on Friday closed the pub for a few hours.

Meanwhile, fire crews were also called out, along with Felixstowe Coastguard, to deal with a person who got stuck in the mud on Trimley foreshore at just after 3pm today but had the victim back safely half an hour later.

Felixstowe Coastguard reported how they were tasked to an incident at Felixstowe beach, while getting ready on station the team were retasked to a life threatening incident at trimley marshes to a man who was stuck in mud up to his waist.

The team arrived on scene in under 10 minutes located the casualty and deployed mud techs from the coastguard onto the mud.

The mud techs extracted the casualty in under 20 minutes and brought him back to the shore and handed over to the fire service.

Just to add to the various emergency services' busy schedule, a fire crew from Felixstowe, and another from Ipswich, were called to a call on the junction of York Road and Felixstowe Road with reports of a building fire.

No casualties were reported in any of the incidents.
