Final touches made as Felixstowe ferris wheel about to turn
Technicians have been putting in the finally safety checks to ensure the huge ferris wheel on Felixstowe seafront can start running.
The 113ft ((34.5m) attraction is set to start taking people up this week, from 10am each morning, offering views on a clear day to Sealand, the whole of the resort and the Port of Felixstowe from 10am each day.
Owner Paul Hedge received planning permission from East Suffolk Council back in, and had told the planning committee it would be up and running my mid-July.
Issues, including ensuring the integrity of the sea wall, led to delays but now thousands of visitors will make the most of the good weather to use the ferris wheel.
A maximum of 144 users can pack onto the observation structure, with each of its 24 enclosures capable of holding six. One would be accessible for disabled people.
The wheel will be open Monday - Friday 10.00 - 21.00, Saturday 10.00 - 22.00 and Sunday 10.00 - 21.00.
