The owners of the White Horse in Old Felixstowe would welcome a community bid to buy the pub, it has been confirmed.

Although Punch are pressing ahead with their planning application to demolish the pub in Church Road and bull a convenience store and flats, the operators still have the White Horse on the open market.

A community group has been successful in listing the White Horse as an Asset of Community Value, which means they can enter into negotiations to buy the pub and Punch is open to offers.

Andy Spencer, Punch managing director, said: "We can confirm that the White Horse in Felixstowe has recently been listed as an Asset of Community Value.

"The pub remains on the market for sale, and any interested parties should contact Savills directly."

No guide price has been put on the building, making it difficult for any community group to formulate a plan as yet, although talks between volunteers are due to take place today..

White Horse, Savills.
