A Felixstowe woman who admitted arson, drink driving and criminal damage has avoided jail.

Susan Yates, of Sea Road, Felixstowe, was handed a 20 month jail sentence, suspended for 24 months, when she appeared at Ipswich Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday, January 12).

Yates had pleaded guilty in November last year to arson by damaging by fire furnishings belonging to Colin Yates and being reckless as to whether his life would be endangered.

She also admitted drink-driving and damaging a bank card belonging to her husband, all on the same day on October 12.

Yates, 54 was also ordered to complete 180 unpaid community work and handed a restraining order meaning she could not go near or contact the victim and must not go to the Felixstowe Beach Caravan Park, for five years.

She must also pay £350 in compensation to the victim and Judge David Pugh ordered Yates to undertake alcohol abstinence monitoring for 121 days and 60 days of rehabilitation activity requirements.
