Felixstowe's iconic Seafront Gardens has been awarded a coveted Green Flag for the sixth time.

The Felixstowe Seafront Gardens has been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as one of the very best in the world, joining other green spaces awarded recognition in Suffolk.

The Gardens are among a record-breaking number of parks and green spaces in the UK and across the world that have received a prestigious Green Flag Award – the mark of a quality park or green space.

This international award, now into its fourth decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

Cllr Letitia Smith, East Suffolk's Cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Tourism, said: "East Suffolk Council is absolutely delighted that Felixstowe's iconic Seafront Gardens has received a Green Flag Award for the sixth year.

"We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining the Felixstowe Seafront Gardens to such a high standard.

"This is an opportunity to recognise the volunteer Friends of the Seafront Gardens who work alongside the lead gardeners to help keep the Gardens looking at their best.

"The renovation and refurbishment of the Seafront Gardens was a major investment for the council, but it has proved money well spent and we are committed to continuing to build on this success to help create a vibrant environment in Felixstowe for visitors and local people alike."

Felixstowe Seafront Garden has also received the much coveted additional Green Heritage Site Accreditation for the management of the historic features.

The refurbishment of the Seafront Gardens is part of a bigger project as the council continues to invest in improving the South Seafront area.
