A world class classical singer from Felixstowe has released a new single to support the Purple Poppy Appeal, which backs the War Horse Memorial, and it has already hit the number one spot.

Christina Johnson's performance of 'A Million Tears' is attracting interest world wide after it was uploaded to a number of music streaming channels and the video to YouTube and she has shot to top spot in the classical singles chart.

The single, written by Essex songwriter Adrian Warwick in partnership with Mark Young, will be used to help launch the first International War Animal Remembrance Day on Thursday, February 24.

"I have always been a huge animal fan, if I wasn't a singer I would definitely be a vet," Christina revealed. "Animals always give so much to us, more than we deserve. I love animals so much and just want to care for them.

"This Remembrance Day on 24 February gives us the opportunity to remember the millions of animals who have given their lives for us and the animals still today who serve us so graciously and ask for nothing in return."

The War Horse Memorial is the first national memorial dedicated to the millions of UK, Commonwealth and Allied horses, mules and donkeys lost during The Great War.

The giant bronze monument, named Poppy by the UK's Guides and Brownies, stands in Ascot, Berkshire and has come to symbolise all animals who have given service and sacrifice in war and has led to the reintroduction of the purple poppy emblem to raise money for animal sanctuaries and military charities.
