Felixstowe pubs sign up for half price Eat out to Help out scheme

Pubs and restaurants in the Felixstowe area are today being urged to register for the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme, which will allow customers to feast for half price.

A number of pubs that open from Monday to Wednesday can use the scheme to offer a discount to diners and encourage them to eat at their establishment.

The Eat Out to Help Out Scheme, designed to encourage people to spend more and help the economy will run all day, August 3 to 31, and offer a 50% discount, up to a maximum of £10 per person, to diners for food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in.

The pubs and restaurants can then claim the money back from the government but alcohol and service charges are excluded from the offer.

There is no limit to the number of times customers can use the offer during the period of the scheme. Your customers cannot get a discount for someone who is not eating or drinking.

Publicans and restaurant owners can register if their establishment sells food for immediate consumption on the premises, provides its own dining area or shares a dining area with another establishment for eat-in meals

was registered as a food business with East Suffolk District Council on or before July 7.

However, they cannot register if they only offer takeaway food or drink. Catering services for private functions or a hotel that provides room service only, dining services (such as packaged dinner cruises or mobile food vans or trailers.

If your application is based on dishonest or inaccurate information, your registration will be revoked.
