An Extinction Rebellion protester from the Felixstowe peninsula has been bailed to appear in a Cambridge court next month after denying criminal damage.

Adam Whybray, a University of Suffolk lecturer from The Street Nacton, pleaded not guilty, when he appeared in Cambridge Magistrates' Court yesterday, to aggravated trespass and criminal damage after a petrol station in Newnham Road was blocked and black liquid poured over the fuel pumps.

The 33-year-old film lecturer is accused along with 10 other Extinction Rebellion of being involved in a week-long protest in Cambridge city centre in February. which also saw the lawn at Trinity College dug up and wheelbarrows of mud dumped into Barclays Bank.

He was bailed to appear with three other defendants charged with similar offences at Cambridge magistrates' court on September 15.
