Nominations are invited for an annual awards programme which celebrates the best building design, conservation and landscape projects in East Suffolk.

East Suffolk Council's 'Quality of Place' awards recognise efforts across the district to enhance the quality of the environment, by creating high-quality designs in both the built and natural environment and helping to conserve historic buildings.

Nominations are judged on quality of design and detailing, quality of workmanship, use of materials and sustainability.

The categories are:

Design Award

This award is for new buildings or extensions, including larger developments. Judges consider originality of design, overall architectural effect, and the building's relationship to its context.

Building Conservation Award

This is awarded to projects involving buildings of historic interest undertaken with particular attention to the quality of conservation.

Nature and Landscape Award

This award is for projects in the natural environment, concerned with matters of ecology, landscape design and/or nature regeneration.

Community Award

This award is for any built or natural environment project designed to benefit the community in which it was built. Judges look at community engagement with the project and the public benefits of the scheme.

There is also a Green Commendation, which will be awarded to the project in one of the above categories that most effectively addresses sustainability and environmental issues.

Nominations can also be made by calling 01394 444610 or emailing [email protected]
