Felixstowe MP Therese Coffey will become the shortest ever UK deputy leader when she is replaced this afternoon.

Although Ms Coffey will remain the Suffolk Coastal MP, which includes the Felixstowe peninsula, she will step down along with prime minister Liz Truss after it was confirmed a couple of minutes before 2pm today that Rishi Sunak will become the new leader, after Penny Mourdant followed Boris Johnson and pull out of the leadership race.

It remains to be seen if Ms Coffey will keep her place on the cabinet as Health Secretary when Mr Sunak makes his reshuffle following a visit to King Charles III.
